Grasslands / Open Space SSHP

3rd Third St. West/4th Street West and Spain St. Map

The land around Sonoma State Historic Park that spilts the bike path is part of the State Park consisting of just under 65 acres. In the past, this land was used for farming, cattle grazing and ranch activities. Today, the land is protected and treated as open natural space. It is a host to local wildlife including: deer, coyote, raccoons and a variety of birds including wild turkey, crows and hawks that enjoy the grasses, shrubs and natural trees in the area. The open space areas are marked as State Park boundaries adjacent to city owned land and property. The open grassland area is available to the public to walk and hike but dogs must be on leash at all times.
