NEW VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR!

IMG_5628.jpgHello Docent Volunteers! I'm so excited to begin my new position as your part-time Volunteer Coordinator. I spent most of the last decade studying ecology in Oregon and Hawai'i (I really like bugs) but I recently moved back to my hometown of Petaluma. As someone who grew up here, I’m interested in learning more about local history, working locally, and helping you to foster a sense of place with park guests. Most of my relevant experience is training students in ecological research methods and organizing my own research projects, but I've volunteered for a number of different organizations over the years, and I definitely appreciate everything that volunteers can contribute - as well as the effort that is needed to encourage a dedicated volunteer community. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and helping you all with the great work that you do. See you at the Parks! Ari DeMarco
