A 12 foot “mock-up” of the new interpretive panel for Sonoma State Historic Park/Casa Grande Area was on display this week in front of 20 E. Spain Street. Karen Barrett, District Interpretive Specialist, wants as much public feedback as possible before ordering the finished product. The panel includes a timeline, illustrations and shows where bronze tactile elements will be placed. The draft text is in the early stages of being written and nowhere near the finished product but as a placeholder it’s especially useful to see how the layout will be with bilingual (English/Spanish) text.

Staff was on hand on Tuesday, July 28th from 11am-2pm and then again on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 11am-2pm to talk with the public about the display, to find out what you like and don’t like. The display attracted considerable attention and many people took the opportunity to submit written comments and recommendations. As o motivating tool, if you submitted a written comment you got a free pass to the park for the day.
