SEE THE PHOTOS HERE! SONOMA JULY 4 PARADE

07/07/2015

Thousands cheered as our float entry, 'Sonoma, the Early Decades', drove the parade route. The Parks truck, driven by Deb Shelton from Parks maintenance, held General Mariano Vallejo and his lovely wife, Francesca (Jim and Sharon Danaher), Padre (Greg Stubbs), Toscano Hotel guest (Marie Therese Denning), Mexican soldier (Patrick Garcia), and a stalwart Vaquero (Jeff Weiss). These figures from our past didn't just wave, but jived and boogied when our sound system blasted music definitely not from the early decades. Our float featured painted wooden panels of our Parks sites prepared by Yvonne Bowers, Fran Weiner, Anne and Mike Cox, as well as placards highlighting the parks events we sponsor. The procession was led by banner bearers Yvonne Bowers, Anne and Mike Cox and Bob Alwitt (two at a time) and the State Parks 'Gator' and Dave Duplantier with 'Sonomie' Bear. As always at our town parade, a great time was had by all!
