JOHN C. FREMONT AND THE CREATION OF THE CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC05/17/2018 7:00pm
Just what was John C. Frémont doing in Mexican California in the spring and summer of 1846? Frémont was an American military officer, mapmaker, and explorer of the West. Many believe he had a not-so-veiled hand in events leading to the American conquest of California. Dave Brummett and Jim Danaher, “The History Boys”, describe Frémont’s movements and activities in and around Sonoma during the time of the Bear Flag Republic. Hear their lecture in the chapel of Mission San Francisco Solano, 114 East Spain Street, Sonoma. Admission for the general public is: $10 at the door, SPParks members pay $5, Docents and Park Staff are free.
